SELENA GOMEZ: 'I'M SORRY' IS NOT ABOUT NICK JONAS
07.09.2008 01:55
Disney star Selena Gomez is fed up with reports that her song "I'm Sorry" is about her rumored beau Nick Jonas.
"It's definitely not about Nick Jonas," Gomez, 16, told PEOPLE Saturday. "It's about someone back home in Texas. When I read it, I was like, 'Oh no this gossip has to go away!' I haven't known the Jonas Brothers for that long, but I've gotten really close with all of them."The actress, in New York promoting the second season of her hit Disney show the Wizards of Waverly Place, says she's just started work on her album and is excited to share the experience with fans.
"This year I'm finally in the process of starting an album. It's something that I've been wanting to do for a long time and I also want to take my fans through that journey so I'll definitely do a whole behind the scenes thing," she said.
Also in the works, a possible tour with Princess Protection Program and best friend Demi Lovato.
Despite a packed schedule, she still makes time to catch her favorite TV show Gossip Girl. "I absolutely love it," said Gomez, who got to meet the cast at last month's Teen Choice Awards. "I think the whole cast knows that I like their show. They all looked as a group and waved and smiled at me. I almost had a heart attack!"
Gomez is particularly fond of Gossip Girl's resident bad boy, Chuck Bass, played by Ed Westwick. "He's so good. Why? Because I'm Chuck Bass! I love that line," she ad-libbed. When informed that the English born Westwick also sang lead in punk band The Filthy Youth, Gomez replied. "You just bumped up his hot meter!"

DANIEL RADCLIFFE WOWS IN FIRST BROADWAY PERFORMANCE
07.09.2008 01:05
Some might even say it was a magical evening. Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe appeared in his first preview performance of the Broadway drama Equus Friday, earning raves from fans.
"I thought that he was terrific," Mandy Menaker, a college student who attended the performance at New York's Broadhurst Theater, told PEOPLE. "He had a lot to offer. So I thought it was great."
Danielle Manente from New Jersey agreed that Radcliffe was wonderful. "He was really good. He captured the character [and] he was so into it. He never broke character. I believed everything he said."In the revival of the 1973 Peter Shaffer play, which was also staged last year in London, Radcliffe stars as Alan Strang, a distressed and hostile teen who commits the horrifying act of blinding six horses, while a psychiatrist (played by Radcliffe's Harry Potter costar Richard Griffiths) tries to get to the heart of why he did it.
Radcliffe first entered stage embracing an actor playing a horse. One of his first lines was singing an ad jingle, "Milky bar kid is tough and strong …" – a demonstration of the character's hostility towards his psychiatrist.
His very emotional performance, which reveals Strang's anger and fear, was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience. Not to mention wowing the crowd with the nude scene, which comes toward the end of Equus.
"Oh my God! That was nice," said Manente of Radcliffe's character fully undressed himself in an attempt at lovemaking with a young woman. "I'm not gonna lie. He looked pretty good."
"By that point he was so in the character," Menaker added, "that you don't think of it as Harry Potter naked. He's naked as a character emotionally, so you're not at all thinking that he's physically naked. You're so involved in the scene by that point that you don't even notice."
Not one to disappoint, Radcliffe signed playbills for the mob of camera-wielding fans waiting outside the theater's stage door. "It was really exciting to see him to do something so different," said Harry Potter fan Alexa Haines after the show. "He was amazing."
Opening night is scheduled for Sept. 25, and the production will play through Feb. 8, 2009.

COSTAR: LINDSAY LOHAN 'HEALTHY' AND 'DOING GREAT'
06.09.2008 19:16
While filming Labor Pains with Lindsay Lohan, there were two constant presences, one a lot more welcome than the other – Lohan's pal Samantha Ronson and the paparazzi, according to the film's costar Bonnie Somerville.
"She was there a lot," Somerville says of Ronson. "They seem happy. "I think as long as they're happy, who cares?"
Which may have something to do with the turnaround in Lohan's once-turbulent life.
"The girl is doing great," Somerville tells Hollyscoop. "She's working and she's healthy."
And back to her old acting form. "She's so good in this movie," Somerville, 33, says. "She's really funny." The fine performance came despite the always lurking paparazzi, which didn't disrupt shooting, but made Somerville appreciate what her photo-magnet costar faces regularly.
"There was a lot," she says, "they never interrupted a scene. There's a lot of security, but it's pretty unbelievable what she goes through. I feel bad for her, its never happened to me. They are ruthless."

06.09.2008 19:15
Patrick Swazye's surprise appearance at the EIF "Stand Up To Cancer" fund-raising special impressed a nation of television viewers and a stage full of fellow celebrities.
The actor, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, was brought out on a darkened stage during the opening segment. When the lights came up, he received a standing ovation. Even Jennifer Aniston, who was in the middle of a phone call, stood up to pay tribute to Swayze.
"He looks amazing," former basketball player Charles Barkley told PEOPLE. "For me, seeing Patrick Swayze, someone who is actually fighting this disease, was the best part of the show. Seeing him in person was amazing."Swayze smiled and danced in the wings through the show, holding his wife, Lisa Niemi. He even managed a moment of solo air guitar. As Melissa Etheridge and Sugarland crooned the closing song, he approached Barkley and the two had an animated conversation.

06.09.2008 15:56
Newlywed Ellen DeGeneres has said that she and bride Portia de Rossi talk about having kids, but what baby names do they discuss?
"We've thought of names, ironically ... Jumbo Shrimp is good," the talk show host tells Extra.
Recently DeGeneres spent time with pals Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's growing family – including their newborn son Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale – which inspired some parental-ish feelings for the comedian. "I was holding Zuma this weekend. And all I kept doing was [singing] 'All I want to do is a Zuma Zuma zoom and shake your rump."DeGeneres's alternate plan to having kids to adopt – but not just anyone. "I would adopt the Jonas Brothers," she quipped. "They really are good kids. They appreciate everything still."
The new season of The Ellen DeGeneres Show debuts Monday with guest Michelle Obama. "She's tall. That was my first impression," says the host. "She’s lovely. Her kids were here and they were as sweet as can be."

BRAD PITT'S KIDS MAKE HIM LAUGH, LONG FOR SLEEP
06.09.2008 15:55
Brad Pitt will have audiences laughing out loud as a knucklehead fitness employee in Burn After Reading, but what makes PEOPLE's two-time Sexiest Man Alive chuckle in real life?
"My kids," Pitt, 44, told PEOPLE at the Toronto International Film Festival gala screening Friday for his new Coen Brothers comedy also starring George Clooney.
Speaking of his kids with Angelina Jolie, newest additions, eight-week-old twins, Knox and Vivienne, are great, he added.
"Everyone is healthy," said Pitt. "Sleep is something you long for, but it's alright. We'll get it."Despite the lack of shut eye, costar and Oscar winner Tilda Swinton advises Pitt not to worry. As a mother of twins herself – 11-year-old daughter Honor Byrne and son Xavier Byrn – she tells him: "It gets easier! And it's true."
And what kind of dad does she think her movie star friend is? "He's fantastic," said Swinton. Costar John Malkovich chimed in: "He was very doting with his daughter during shooting on a couple of days I was there. He's very much a present parent."
Pitt and Jolie have six kids total contributing to the giggles: Maddox, 7, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2.

SELENA GOMEZ HINTS THAT SONG IS ABOUT NICK JONAS
06.09.2008 02:35
Selena Gomez is coy about naming exactly which boy she will be singing about on her upcoming album – but she’s giving some big clues.
"My favorite song that I've written is called 'I'm Sorry,'" the Disney
Channel star, who is reportedly dating Nick Jonas, tells TWIST magazine. "It's about a boy I kind of fell for, but he couldn't let his ex-girlfriend go, and it was really difficult."
Jonas, of the Jonas Brothers, formerly dated Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, who used their relationship as inspiration for her own pop song, "7 Things."
Of having to compete with the unnamed guy's ex-girlfriend, Gomez says, "I felt like in a way, I wasn't good enough."
The autobiographical lyrics tell the story of encouraging her beau to move forward. "The song is basically me saying that I'm sorry that it didn't work out or that she used to be who she was," says the Wizards of Waverly Place star. "But you have to let me in and you have to know that I'll do everything I can to make you happy and be the best I can be."
Gomez, 16, says the personal tune will likely be the first song she records for her album and "probably be the only ballad on the record."
"I want the other stuff to be really fun," she adds. "But that is probably going to be the most heartfelt one because it was the hardest time for me. That story actually happened to me."

KEITH URBAN: BEING MR. MOM IS 'BEAUTIFUL'
06.09.2008 01:08
Diaper duty is no sweat for hands-on new dad Keith Urban, the singer tells CMT Insider. In fact, he says, he relishes his role as full-time dad to 2-month-old Sunday Rose while wife, Nicole Kidman, is filming.
"When my wife's working and I've got time off, I'm just Mr. Mom during the day, taking care of the little girl," said Urban, 40, who also called fatherhood "beautiful."
The Kidman-Urban family spent time in Australia while Kidman, 40, filmed the Baz Luhrmann epic Australia, and now mom and daughter are in London where Kidman is rehearsing for the movie musical Nine. Meanwhile, Urban has been balancing family time with traveling for his U.S. tour dates. Next year, he says, things will be different.Asked if they plan to take Sunday Rose on the road in the future, he replied: "That's what we'll do next year. Just balancing touring with being home, it's good to have them out on the road ... so we're not apart very much.”
The singer also gave an update on his back injury – a slipped disc – saying the severity of the injury was exaggerated. "It was a little painful," he admitted. "I just had sort of a bulging L-5 disk, you know?"
To see the full Urban interview, check out CMT INSIDER on Saturday, Sept. 13. The show airs at 1:30p ET/PT.

06.09.2008 01:07
Following in his parents' fancy footsteps, Romeo Beckham celebrated his sixth birthday in style with a superhero outing including some fellow famous kids.
Clutching mom Victoria Beckham's hand as they walked through Universal CityWalk, Romeo (clad in a superhero costume) "seemed excited," said an onlooker. "He kept hopping up and down when they exited the movie theatre."
The festivities kicked into high gear when the group made their way to the Hard Rock Cafe. Eldest son Brooklyn, 9, led the way, walking in front of the gang, which included Heidi Klum, Gavin Rossdale, and Geri Halliwell, who brought along their kids. "Everyone was smiling and seemed relaxed and happy, despite the chaos caused by fans and paparazzi," says the onlooker. After about two hours of celebrating, the party died down and families departed one by one.
