ALANIS MORRISSETTE REVEALS HER FIRST LOVE: HOCKEY Blog

Alanis Morissette can be tough in her music. Just consider her megahit "You Oughta Know." Now, imagine her on skates with a big stick.
"I've been a hockey fan since I was fresh out of the womb, to be honest," Morissette, 34, tells NHL.com, revealing one of her life's first passions. "It would have been hard not to be in my family since we're all hockey fans."
"I played street hockey a lot," the singer says. "Most Canadians learn how to skate when they're 2 years old. I was one of those kids, so I skated a lot on my figure skates and my hockey skates."Now, she is fusing her two loves, participating in the NHL Face-Off 2008 festivities on Oct. 9, by broadcasting part of her live concert in Montreal.
Morissette, who released her fifth album Flavors of Entanglement earlier this year, is expected to perform a new song, "Versions of Violence," which she considers to be an ode to the Dalai Lama. She will also perform a song from Jagged Little Pill, she tells NHL.com.
So why does she love hockey so much? Hint: It's not just the brawn involved.
"I think hockey is like dancing; it's such an art," Morissette says. "At one point it was quintessentially Canadian . . . so I think there's something sweet about that."

BRITNEY TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM ON HER BIRTHDAY Blog

Britney Spears has arranged a wonderful birthday present for herself: her sixth studio album, Circus, due for release Dec. 2 – the day she turns 27, her label announced Monday.
Coming so soon after her triple victory – for video of the year, best female video and best pop video for "Piece of Me" – at MTV's Video Music Awards on Sept. 7, Circus follows up her well-received 2007 album Blackout and continues the upward spiral the sometimes-troubled pop star has been experiencing.
The Outsyders, described by Spears's label, Jive records, as an up-and-coming Atlanta production team, have produced the first single from the album, "Womanizer," which will drop Sept. 22. Other producers and writers with a hand in the album, according to Jive, include Dr. Luke (writer-producer of the title track, "Circus"), Danja, Max Martin, Bloodshy & Avant and Guy Sigsworth – who's collaborated with such other artists as Madonna, Alanis Morissette and Bjork.
Overtakes Paris's RecordIn all, Spears has sold more than 62 million albums internationally, including 1999's Baby One More Time, 2000's Oops! … I Did It Again, 2001' Britney, 2003's In The Zone and the previously mentioned Blackout. Her sales records include eight No. 1 worldwide singles and four consecutive No. 1 albums.
Also on Monday, Guinness World Records revealed another accolade for Spears: she has replaced Paris Hilton as the Most Searched Person on the Internet in 2007.

DAVE COULIER: I 'REALLY HURT' ALANIS MORISETTE Blog

We oughta know ...
Full House star Dave Coulier is finally speaking out about inspiring Alanis Morissette's bitter, break-out hit "You Oughta Know."
The comedian told the Calgary Herald that he dated the much-younger singer-songwriter – but that he had no idea she planned to take their breakup public.
When he first heard the song, "I said, 'Wow, this girl is angry,' " he recalled. "And then I said, 'Oh man, I think it's Alanis.' ... I listened to the song over and over again, and I said, 'I think I have really hurt this person.' " But there's no lasting animosity, he said – adding that the exes even decided to meet up once.
"We saw each other and hung out for an entire day," he said. "And it was beautiful. It was one of those things where it was kind of like, 'We're good.' "

ALANIS MORISSETTE IS 'FASCINATED BY AGING' Blog

The affects of old age won't be a concern for Alanis Morissette.
Don't count on seeing the singer, who says she "notices new things" about her body every month, searching for a fountain of youth. Instead Morissette plans to embrace her body’s transformation.
"I'm fascinated by aging and how a woman's body changes," Morissette, 34, tells Women's Health's September issue.
"I don't want to spend the next 50 years of my life trying to hide those changes. There's something very relaxing about watching it unfold instead of fighting it the whole way."
While she watches her body evolve, Morissette has stayed physically fit by adding triathlete to her resume. "It was amazing to use my body as an instrument rather than as an ornament," Morissette says of the swim-run-bike competition.
When she's not flexing her competitive muscle, the self-described cross-trainer likes versatility in her exercise regimen. While touring to promote her new album Flavors of Entanglement. Morissette, a fan of kickboxing and dance, counts basketball and volleyball as her favorite sports.
"Doing the same thing every day is not right for my temperament," she says.
In between triathlons and her music career will Morissette, who split from Ryan Reynolds last year, have time for marriage and a family?
Both are on her list of lifetime goals.
"I want to go to Laos and do a show in Russia and get married and have kids," she says. "Maybe even adopt a kid. I'd like to live somewhere in the middle of nowhere for a while – maybe in a forest or on an ocean bluff."
