| NE-YO IS PREPPED FOR NEW ORLEANS CONCERT – AND THE GUMBO Blog |
After spending the last four months in Prague where he was shooting the upcoming Tuskegee Airmen drama Red Tails alongside actors Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr., singer-songwriter Ne-Yo is ready to let loose and head down South.
Hitting the stage at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on Friday, Ne-Yo tells PEOPLE he's been prepping his moves. "I'm a little rusty right now; I can admit that! ... But it will not show by the time ya'll see me at Essence! Don't worry!" he assures his fans. Also on the Essence bill: Beyoncé, John Legend and Maxwell.
The star, who recently started rehearsals for his month-long European tour, added: "I've been off the radar while I was shooting [the film], but I'm getting my tour legs back. Performing music is in my blood. It's not like I’ll ever forget how to do it, but anything that you stop doing for a long enough period of time, you get a little rusty."
And once Ne-Yo wraps up his Big Easy performance, he'll be ready for a night on the town. "I love New Orleans – it's a party town! I grew up in in Las Vegas, so I know what it is!" he says with a laugh. But before hitting the scene, he plans to get his fill of some traditional New Orleans-style cuisine. "Gumbo is a must! I won't get on the stage until I get a proper bowl of gumbo," he jokes.

| KEVIN JONAS GETS ENGAGED! Blog |
Kevin Jonas surprised his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa by showing up at her doorstep in New Jersey early Wednesday morning and dropping down to his knee to ask her to marry him. Presented with a cushion-cut diamond ring that Jonas designed with Jacob & Co., Deleasa couldn't believe what was happening.
Then, "She said yes, yes, yes like 500 times super fast in a row," the oldest of the Jonas Brothers tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Jonas, 21, and Deleasa, 22, who met in May of 2007 while vacationing with their families in the Bahamas, haven't set a wedding date yet. "It still feels like a dream," she tells PEOPLE. Overnight FlightWhen Deleasa, a former hairdresser, first met Jonas two years ago, she admits, "I didn't know who the Jonas Brothers were." It was Kevin who eagerly pursued her after meeting her and then spotting her walking on the beach with a flower in her hair.
Jonas popped the question after arriving in New Jersey on an overnight flight from a concert in Vancouver. "It was tough performing last night, knowing that I was going to ask the biggest question in my life to the most amazing girl in the world," he says.
And while the news is bound to break a lot of young girls' hearts, the Jonas family couldn't be happier.
"Our hearts are filled with joy today and we are happy to share with you that our son Kevin has asked Danielle for her hand in marriage," parents Denise and Kevin Jonas Sr. say in a statement to PEOPLE. "Her answer was yes, and it is such a blessing that she will be joining our family. Kevin and Danielle have not yet set a date. Family is very dear to us, and we hope we have raised Kevin to be a wonderful man and husband. Please join us in our family's celebration and in congratulating Kevin and Danielle. Thank you for all of your support."

| DURABLE OSCAR WINNER KARL MALDEN DIES AT 97 Blog |
Karl Malden, the bulbous-nosed character actor who won a Best Supporting Oscar for his role as Mitch, the guiless suitor of Blanche DuBois in the 1951 classic A Street Car Named Desire – a role he created on Broadway – and lent his particular brand of gravitas to American Express commercials in the 1980s, died Wednesday of natural causes in his Brentwood, Calif., home, his family announced. He was 97.
Born Malden Sekulovich to Czech and Siberian immigrants in Chicago, Malden barely spoke English as a child until the family moved to Gary, Indiana. He returned to the Windy City in the '30s and studied acting at the Goodman Theatre Dramatic School, before making his Broadway debut in 1940.
He would go on to star in more than 50 Hollywood films, often playing richly complex and often dark characters, while also making a mark on the small screen starting in 1972, on The Streets of San Francisco. He played a veteran police investigator who takes under his wing a young greenhorn, played by Michael Douglas. "[Karl] was my surrogate father," Douglas told PEOPLE recently. "I love this man with all of my heart. He had an incredible work ethic. This is where I established mine."
Malden continued to work in TV after the series was cancelled in 1977, winning an Emmy as a father who solves his daughter and grandchildren's murderer in the non-fiction 1984 TV movie Fatal Vision. More recently, he played a priest in a 2000 episode of West Wing.
A corporal in the 8th Air Force during World War II, Malden, who was well respected in the industry, also served as the president of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences from 1989 to 1993.
Besides his wife of 70 years, Mona, Malden is survived by daughters Mila and Cara and their husbands, three granddaughters, and four great grandchildren.

Why, Twilight star Peter Facinelli's Twitter page, of course.
Facinelli signed autographs for free at the Affliction clothing store on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles Tuesday as a give back to fans who helped him win a bet with his friend Rob DeFranco that he couldn't get 500,000 Twitter followers. "I kind of took this little bet, that was a silly little thing and I tried to make something positive out of it," Facinelli told PEOPLE.
The bet was initially started when DeFranco asked Facinelli if he could have Facinelli's on-set Twilight director's chair, which had Facinelli's name and the film's logo on it. Facinelli said "no" to his friend, but gave it away anyway after holding a free online drawing where fans around the country could register to win the unique item.Rob DeFranco paid off his end of the bet too when he was forced to dance down Hollywood Blvd. Tuesday morning wearing a bikini and singing "Single Ladies," a fate chosen by his "sick and twisted Twitter followers," Facinelli said, adding, "who I love dearly."Affliction also donated $10,000 to the Christopher Reeve Foundation on behalf of Facinelli's Twitter followers.
At the signing Facinelli hugged fans, and even told one girl who was nearly hyperventilating as he signed her homemade poster that she's "very, very sweet."
"If I showed up today and there were three people you know it'd be really silly," Facinelli said. "It'd be me with a magic marker twiddling my thumbs. So I'm really happy that they came out."

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer showed off a rare public display of affection, strolling arm-in-arm in New York City Thursday night.
Aniston, 39, smiled as she snuggled up to Mayer, 31, as he greeted photographers. The two -- who wore matching black jackets and jeans -- then dashed into La Esquina, where Kelly Ripa was also dining with husband Mark Consuelos.

"I'm happy to report the movie is completely in focus," he told photographers as Aniston laughed. "I want everyone to know that."

On Wednesday, Aniston told David Letterman that she met Mayer at a Hollywood party thrown by CAA agent Bryan Lourd.
"He was lovely on your show," she also said of Mayer's Thanksgiving performance, calling it "beautiful. It really kicked off the holiday sprit."

Jennifer Aniston has a simple message when it comes to her on-again relationship with John Mayer: "People need to mind their own business," the actress tells Vogue in its December issue.
Of course, Aniston, 39, understands why so many people are intrigued by their romance. There's the age difference – Mayer is nine years younger – and the musician's high-profile past relationships with starlets like Jessica Simpson.
"Did you ever think Claudia Schiffer and David Copperfield made sense?" Aniston says, jokingly comparing her relationship to equally unexpected celebrity couples. "Did Susan Anton and Dudley Moore make sense? Wait! I got more!"When they met at an Oscar party last February, Aniston says she "barely knew his music." But the two began dating – Aniston flew to England where the rocker was touring – and their relationship developed before the cameras.
Did she know it was going to work out at the time?
"You know, it isn't designed," Aniston says. "Love just shows up and you go, 'Oh, wow, this is going to be a hayride and a half.' "
"I Feel Seriously Protective" of Mayer When talking about Mayer's famous run-in with reporters outside a gym in Manhattan where he said about their split, "I don't want to waste somebody's time if something's not right," Aniston isn't ruffled.
"He had to put that out there that he broke up with me," she says, about Mayer's comments. "And especially because it's me. It's not just some girl he’s dating. I get it. We're human. But I feel seriously protective of him and us."
Adds Aniston: "It's funny when you hit a place in a relationship and you both realize [that] we maybe need to do something else, but you still really, really love each other. It's painful. There was no malicious intent. I deeply, deeply care about him; we talk, we adore one another. And that's where it is.”
On Her Relationship with Brad PittEqually candid about her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, Aniston says she has spoken to him since their divorce, and calls their split "amicable."
"The marriage didn't work out," she tells the magazine. "Pretty soon after we separated, we got on the phone and we had a long, long conversation with each other and said a lot of things, and ever since we've been unbelievably warm and respectful of each other."
(Aniston also shares some thoughts about Pitt's partner, Angelina Jolie, with the magazine.)
Aniston, who says she's been "unbelievably lucky in love," is also practical about the subject. "Whoever said everything has to be forever," she says. "That's setting your hopes too high. It's too much pressure. And I think if you put that pressure on yourself … that's unattainable."
