BIRTHDAY BOY NICK JONAS GETS A NEW BEST FRIEND Blog
Nick Jonas has a new best friend: a golden retriever named Elvis.
The pup was a birthday gift from his family, according to the band's rep. The youngest member of the Jonas Brothers band, who turned 16 on Tuesday, named the pup for two of his favorite musicians, Elvis Costello and Elvis Presley.
Though the band has been busy working on its upcoming film, Jonas Brothers 3-D Concert Movie (which will open Feb. 22, 2009), Nick still made time for Elvis on Tuesday, taking him for a walk around his L.A. neighborhood.– Sharon Cotliar RELATED ARTICLE: Read more about JoBro and other hot teen stars!

Country guitarist, songwriter, singer and Smokey and the Bandit sidekick Jerry Reed died Monday of emphysema. He was 71.
The Atlanta-born Grammy winner, who never lost his Georgia drawl, backed Elvis Presley and Waylon Jennings on guitar before emerging on his own in the late '60s.
Within a decade, he had a string of radio hits such as "When You're Hot, You're Hot" and "Amos Moses" and "East Bound and Down" from the Bandit" movies, in which he played trucker Cledus "Snowman" Snow.
Survivors include Reed's wife of 49 years, Priscilla Mitchell Hubbard, of the Nashville suburb of Brentwood; two daughters, Charlotte "Lottie" Stewart of Franklin, Tenn., and Seidina Hinesley of Smyrna, Tenn.; and two grandchildren. – Stephen M. Silverman

LISA MARIE PRESLEY BLOGS ABOUT BABIES ON BOARD Blog
Lisa Marie Presley can't wait to add to her family.
In a Friday posting on her MySpace page, the singer, 40, writes that she and husband Michael Lockwood, 45, are "beyond thrilled and blessed, elated and saturated in happiness" over the twins they will welcome this fall.
The pair will be the first children together for Presley and Lockwood, a musician. The expectant mom, who proudly displays her baby bump in the September issue of Marie Claire, has daughter Riley, 19, a model, and Benjamin, 15, with ex-husband Danny Keough.
In her first blog entry since May, she expresses her gratitude to fans for well wishes to the couple, who wed in January 2006. "Thank you so much for all of the amazing positive energy and beautiful well wishes," she writes, adding, "We love reading them." To those anticipating her third CD, she explains that belting it out is not so easy in her current state.
"For those who have been asking me," writes Presley, who released her debut album, To Whom It May Concern, in 2003 and the follow-up, Now What, two years later. "I am not recording at the moment as there isn't much room for breathing and singing right now, most of that area has been taken up and I can't really sing a line without running out of air halfway though."
Recording Will ResumeAssuaging antsy listeners, she adds, "Writing and recording will resume when the little occupants in there have decided to join the outside world."
The otherwise euphoric rocker also used a portion of her post to vent about life under constant media scrutiny.
"In the past couple of years, high profile type people seem to have less and less rights," observes the only child of Elvis Presley. "Less privacy and protection. The onslaught of Internet and tabloid sites mostly want only blood now. They have managed to make being a public figure a 24/7 public stoning and execution of various sorts. Some obviously more brutal than others."

LISA MARIE PRESLEY BARES HER BABY BUMP Blog
Lisa Marie Presley announced she's expecting twins – and now she's baring her baby bump in a new photo spread in the September issue of Marie Claire. The reason for exposing herself in this spread? Presley says she's firing back against people who, early in her pregnancy, posted unflattering photos of her and just accused her of having a large, unhealthy appetite.
"They want me to be him," she tells the magazine, referring to her father, Elvis Presley. "It's like they can't wait."
Presley claims "the tabloids were going so far as to alter photos. I could never figure out why they went to all that trouble to make me look fat.
"There are at least six other famous women pregnant right now who aren't getting picked on," she says in the interview. "But they're all over me. It's like there is a campaign to demean me."Go Ahead and Look!Lisa Marie Presley Photo by: Courtesy Marie Claire

CARRIE, LEANN AND MORE TO DUET WITH ELVIS Blog
Some of Country's queens are getting the chance to sing with the King on an upcoming album of Christmas tracks.
"Elvis Presley Christmas Duets" pairs the voice of Presley with the likes of Carrie Underwood and LeAnn Rimes – both of whom were born after the musical legend had died. Martina McBride, Sara Evans, and Wynonna Judd also lend their voices to the tunes. Underwood 'duets' with Presley on "I'll be Home for Christmas," while Rimes takes on "Here Comes Santa Claus" and McBride croons with the King on the Presley favorite "Blue Christmas."Additional tracks include: "Silent Night" with Evans; "Santa Claus is Back In Town" with Judd; "Merry Christmas Baby" with Gretchen Wilson; "Silver Bells" with Anne Murray; "White Christmas" with Amy Grant; and "O Little Town" with Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town.
The songs are being recorded in Nashville's RCA Studio B–the same studio where Elvis recorded his original 1971 Christmas sessions. "We are so pleased that these accomplished artists are collaborating with Elvis in this unique way to make exciting new versions of his Christmas songs," Priscilla Presley said in a press release. "I am sure Elvis would be proud to have worked with them."
Tracks from the album will be previewed Aug. 14 during the 2008 Elvis Week in Memphis.
