Beyonce is finally breaking her silence on her hush-hush wedding to Jay-Z.
The singer, 27, tells November's Essence that she kept their April wedding at Jay-Z's NYC apartment quiet and small because she is not a "traditional woman."
She adds, "It's been my day so many days already."

Despite being engaged, she never confirmed rumors or wore a ring.
"People put too much emphasis on that," says the singer, whose new album drops Nov. 18. "It's just material, and it's just silly to me."
(Instead, the couple have matching IV tattoos on their ring fingers. They were each born on the fourth day of a month - Beyonce on September 4; Jay-Z, December 4. They wed on April 4.)
Beyonce -- who's been dating the rapper since 2002 -- says she wasn't surprised when they walked down the aisle.
"We've been together a long time," she says. "We always knew it would happen."
"What Jay and I have is real," she goes on. "It's not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It's real."

Six months after marrying Jay-Z, Beyonce is at last revealing details about their top-secret wedding.
"What Jay and I have is real. It's not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It's real," the singer, 27, tells Essence magazine in its November issue.
Notoriously tight-lipped about her relationship with the hip-hop mogul, Beyoncé does share a little about her wedding day, but only after groaning, "You're gonna get me in trouble."
Beyoncé tells the magazine she didn't want an engagement ring because, "People put too much emphasis on that," she says. "It's just material and it's just silly to me."
Instead, the magazine reports, she wears a band on her ring finger over a tattoo of the Roman numeral IV (Beyoncé was born on Sept. 4; Jay-Z on Dec. 4; they were married on April 4). Jay-Z, 38, has a matching tattoo on his left-hand ring finger.(Beyoncé has not commented on the significance of a $5 million, 18-carat flawless diamond ring by Lorraine Schwartz she has been photographed wearing since September.)
Their wedding was small and intimate because Beyoncé is not a "traditional woman," she says, and didn't want the drama. "It's been my day so many days already," she told Essence.
Beyoncé, who just debuted two singles off her new album due Nov. 18, was certain she and Jay-Z would end up as husband and wife. "We've been together a long time," she says. "We always knew it would happen."

Beyonce's back!
In preparation for the November 18 release of her third studio album, the singer, 27, debuted its lead single "If I Were a Boy" Wednesday on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show. (Listen to the song here)
The ballad features newlywed Beyonce (who tied the knot with rapper Jay-Z in April) singing about her hypothetical life as a guy.
"If I were a boy, I'd drink beer with the guys and chase after girls," she sings. "I could get with who I wanted and never get confronted for it, 'cause they'd stick up for me."
"I think I could understand how it feels to love a girl," Beyonce adds in the song. "I'd listen to her, cause I know how it hurts. I'd put myself first and make the rules as I go."
Putting herself first is something the singer says she's prioritized lately.
"One day I hope to be married with children" she told Ellen DeGeneres in 2006.
"I don't want to retire at 30, I want to relax," she said. "I still want to make albums and movies, but at a slower pace."

chocolate soufflé – then continued her night out at Soho
House.

"Most people I guess dream of having a family some day, so I'm just a regular American boy," Jay-Z - who married Beyonce Knowles in April - told reporters.

"I went to Africa, spent a couple weeks in Angola. A bunch of different places. That was the whole thing for me," he said. "I've given to charities in the past and you close your eyes and cross your fingers and hope that the money gets there.
"With this I got to go to Africa, I got to see the water pumps, I got to touch it," he went on. "I got to see the kids turn them on. Tonight, I don't know what I'm doing here, I'm rewarded already."

Jay-Z was flying solo at the U.N. Global Leadership Awards Gala in New York Wednesday night. But even without wife Beyoncé Knowles by his side, he still happily chatted about his plans to start a family – eventually.
The rapper, who was being honored for his work to bring clean water to young people in Africa, has spent several weeks touring the continent.
But unlike Angelina Jolie and Madonna, it didn't inspire him to adopt. "No," the Grammy-winner (he got hitched in April) told PEOPLE. "I don't want to bring any kids home."
But Jay-Z does want babies of his own. "Most people dream of having a family someday," he told reporters. "So I'm just a regular American boy." In the meantime, he's focused on his humanitarian work – noting that more than 2 billion people don't have access to clean water.
"Many charities, you close your eyes and cross your fingers and hope that the money gets to the people who really deserve it," he said. "But with this, I got to go to Africa, see the water pumps. I got to see the kids turn them on."

If you've ever wanted to bid on a bejeweled piece of hip-hop history, bling it on!
Phillips de Pury & Co.'s "Hip-Hop Crown Jewels" auction next spring in New York will sell off the high-priced trinkets of rap's hottest starts, including personal jewelry from Kanye West, 50 Cent, and Diddy, reports MTV.
And the bling is already creating a buzz. Due to "overwhelming interest", the auctioneers have moved up the auction date from Oct. 1 to March. 5, 2009.
On the auction block?• Missy Elliott's diamond-and-gold turntable ring and a black Jesus diamond pendant from Kanye West.
• Lil Jon's 13-lb. Crunk Ain't Dead pendant, which holds the Guinness World Record as the world's largest diamond pendant.
• Tupac Shakur's diamond-and-ruby crown-shaped ring, which the late rapper was wearing when he was killed in 1996.
• A diamond star pendant worn by Jay-Z on the cover of of L'uomo Vogue.
• A glittering diamond Rolex owned by the late Notorious B.I.G.
Some proceeds from the auction will be donated to Russell Simmons' Rush Community Affairs charity, an organization that provides education and resources to over seventy NYC community development programs.

Beyoncé did perk up when they played her song "Upgrade U," which features a cameo by her hubby, a partygoer tells us. Meanwhile, the deejay spun some Jay-Z hits too – and he seemed amused by one particular mashup. Noticeably missing from view: Beyoncé's $5 million wedding ring, though Jay-Z was sporting a band of his own.
• Jennifer Lopez, accompanying hubby Marc Anthony to Miami, where he was performing at the American Airlines Arena. Before show time, the couple enjoyed some quiet time – sans twins Max and Emme – at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. "Jennifer and Marc had some spa treatments at the hotel, and just basically relaxed," says a source. "They wanted some time to just hang out and chill."
• Rihanna, sparkling in an Alexander Wang gold skirt while partying with beau Chris Brown at L.A. nightspot The Kress. They walked right in and sat at a cabana toward the back of the club, where they were all over each other! According to an onlooker, their body language was very sexy, as they flirted all night – and she even gave him a little lapdance.
• Lauren Conrad, flirting with My Boys star Kyle Howard at Teddy's inside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The two were laughing and smiling, and very close: They held hands on the raised section of the lounge while hanging out.
• Guess they're back on! Evangeline Lilly and Dominic Monaghan, making a surprise appearance at the Blindness premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. First, the two were seen strolling together. Then a grinning Monaghan walked the carpet, with an equally happy Lilly following suit two minutes later.
• Maria Bello, introducing fiancé Bryn Mooser to costar Aaron Eckhart at a screening of their new movie, Towelhead, at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood. Bello, who was wearing her engagement ring, and Mooser sat next to each other inside the theater and chatted with Eckhart for a few minutes. When they weren't talking with guests, the couple whispered with one another.
• Just one day after premiering his film Burn After Reading at the Toronto Film Festival, director Joel Coen and wife Frances McDormand took a casual stroll down Avenue Road, near the Park Hyatt hotel. Dressed down, the couple looked at ease with each other as they chatted and walked arm in arm.

All eyes were on Beyoncé Friday night, when, for the first time, the singer publicly displayed her engagement ring on the red carpet for Fashion Rocks at Radio City Music Hall in N.Y.C.
The singer, 27, who secretly married rapper Jay-Z in April, flashed an 18 carat flawless diamond by Lorraine Schwartz, valued at more than $5 million dollars, according to the jeweler.
Neither Beyoncé nor Jay-Z have publicly confirmed their marriage but in recent weeks, Beyoncé’s younger sister Solange referred to Jay-Z as her brother-in-law during a television interview.Later in the evening, Beyoncé took off the ring for a performance where she donned a short, blonde wig in tribute to blues singer Etta James whom she portrays in an upcoming movie.
The star-studded event included appearances by Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Tommy Hilfiger, Hayden Panettiere, Paula Abdul, Fergie, Ciara, Natasha Bedingfield, Chris Brown, Terrance Howard, Justin Timberlake and Chace Crawford.

Forget mere celebrity. Beyoncé says she aspires to icon status.
"There is a time limit on being a pop star, yes," the Grammy-winning singer tells the October issue of Marie Claire's U.K. edition. "Being a legend, an icon? Absolutely not."
"I'm over being a pop star," Beyoncé, 26, adds. "I don't wanna be a hot girl – I wanna be iconic."
Still, she admits to being frustrated with the demands of her career: "There are responsibilities that come along with this life ... trying to have a romantic meal without someone sneaking in to film the whole thing," says Beyoncé, who married Jay-Z in April. "I have to work really hard and it's fine because I like it, I love it, but it's a lot of sacrifice." Acknowledging the challenges of being a minority in Hollywood, Beyoncé gives a nod to her own role models: "I think I'm opening doors for more black women, just like Halle Berry and Diana Ross opened doors for me."
The singer also expressed a sense of excitement for the political future. Regarding Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, she says, "I'm really proud. I think we're making a bit of progress, it's an exciting time. We all feel part of our country now."

As the winner of "Making the Band 4," Donnie Klang has worked with Diddy and hung out with Jay-Z and Beyoncé. But now he's paying attention to a younger star.
"Miley Cyrus is about to take her career in a whole new direction," says Klang, 23, who released his solo album Just a Rolling Stone on Tuesday. "I've been writing with that in mind. I would love to do a song with her."
He says he already has the perfect song for the 15-year-old Disney star.
"I wrote a song called 'Rebelling' that I feel like would fit her," he says. "Especially for a singer that's in the limelight at such a young age, she's eventually going to hit a point, like Britney or Lindsay, where she needs to go out and rebel." Miley's not the only young gun he's after. "Take a rapper, myself and a Jonas Brother, and just do new stuff. That's what I want to do," says Klang, who is the first solo winner of the MTV show. "I would love to collaborate with a country music star, [like] Carrie Underwood."
For now, he's still dazzled by his new position in the music world. "I met Brandy at a radio station in the Midwest," he says. "She wrapped her arms around me and was like, 'Oh my God, I love you. My family loves you.' And I was like, 'You're Brandy.' She's coming up to me saying she's a fan. What's going on?"

Jay-Z says privacy is the reason he and Beyonce won't talk about their wedding or marriage.
"I just think it's really a part of your life that you gotta keep to yourself," he tells Vibe in their September issue.
"You have to have something sacred to you and the people around you," the 38-year-old adds. "I shared so much of my life… I should have something to hold on to."

Beyonce, 26, and Jay-Z tied the knot over three months ago in a "very special, very private, very intimate" rooftop ceremony, according to a source close to the pair. He was finally spotted with his wedding ring last week.

Jay-Z also tells Vibe why he's a strong supporter of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
"What [Obama] represents is, we as a people are part of the American Dream," he says. "We were left out of the dream at a certain point. Now the dream is, you can be anything – and it's not cliché."

Jay-Z donned never-before-seen bling in NYC Wednesday: his wedding ring to Beyonce!
The rapper, 38, was spotted wearing the jewelry while leaving his Tribeca apartment, where they wed April 4.

Beyonce, 26, and Jay-Z tied the knot over three months ago in a "very special, very private, very intimate" rooftop ceremony, according to a source close to the pair.

Famous guests included Destiny's Child singers Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as well as Gwyneth Paltrow and hubby Chris Martin.
Why did they choose the date April 4? They're obsessed with the number!
The rapper named his club 40/40 after a baseball term. (If a player hits 40 home runs and steals 40 bases in the same season, it's considered a major coup.)
The couple also have matching IV tattoos on their ring fingers, and they were each born on the fourth day of a month (Beyoncé on September 4; Jay-Z, December 4).

"One day I hope to be married with children," the singer told Ellen DeGeneres in 2006.
"I don't want to retire at 30, I want to relax," she said. "I still want to make albums and movies, but at a slower pace."

It's back to the studio for Timbaland – and once again, he's inviting along some friends.
For the sequel to his 2007 hit album Shock Value, the musician-producer, 37, is bringing in heavy-hitting collaborators from across the music world, including Beyoncé, Rihanna and the Jonas Brothers.
"Right now, I have a song with Madonna that I didn't put on her album. I saved [it] in case I wanna do one for me," he told MTV News. "Of course I'mma do one with Beyoncé. Of course I'mma do one with Jordin Sparks, Rihanna. It's a lot of people. I'mma do one with Jonas Brothers. I'mma try to have 10 major ones."
He'll also incorporate rappers into his lineup, he says. T. Pain has signed on, while T.I. and Jay-Z may also make appearances.
"Jay was really on the last one, but he wanted to change [the song]," he said. "I said, 'Look, man, I gotta put out an album. You're killing me.' "

acted lowkey but still "lovey-dovey."
• A solo Kate Hudson, scoping out the fashions of
Australia in New York's meatpacking district. The Fool's Gold star hit up the Elizabeth Charles boutique where she bought four dresses,
two jackets and two sweaters. According to a source, the actress is smitten
with Aussie designers after shooting her adventure comedy Down Under.
• Ryan Gosling, chatting about music during jazz
night at West Hollywood's Green
Door. The dapper actor sported jeans, a white T-shirt and a Members Only
jacket – and spent his time talking up host Jason Scoppa next
to the deejay booth. But when he was finished chatting, Gosling sat at a
table near the band where he was joined by his mother and sisters. Says an
onlooker: "Everyone had an awesome time."
• Rachael Ray, diving into a "chocolate pizza" at Max Brenner
in New York's Union Square. The lunchtime snack was topped with chocolate
and marshmallows instead of cheese.
• Denise Richards, talking about ex Charlie Sheen
"a lot," during a barbecue at the DKNY Jeans house in Malibu, a source tells
us. But the E! star wasn't saying bad things, the source says. "She was just
relaxing, and at one point told people, 'It’s great to get out and enjoy
time with friends.' "
• Mark Ronson, beatboxing and singing an impromptu few
choruses of his hit song "Stop Me" during Jay-Z's afterparty at Club 2020 in Bournemouth, England. The Grammy Award winning producer also
came to the rescue after a minor technical snafu in the deejay booth, and
later fended off autograph seeking female fans.

Alex Rodriguez admits "times are a bit difficult" in a new interview with The Insider.
"I'll get through them," he said at the 2008 MLB All-Star Week party at Jay-Z's 40/40 club in NYC Monday. "The support of the New York fans has been incredible."
Asked if he has been reading the flurry of stories about his divorce or Madonna scandal, he said, "None of it. Zero, zero. Thank you."

Though the singer, 49, was rumored to attend the MLB All-Star Week bash, she was a no-show.
Still, her presence was felt.
The DJ played a few of her tunes, including her new single "Four Minutes."
When her hit "Material Girl" blared on the speakers, A-Rod's "expression didn’t change," a witness tells Usmagazine.com.
Throughout the night, A-Rod, 32, chatted up his manager Guy Oseary - who also works for Madonna - and Ingrid Casares, who introduced the singer and the slugger.
A-Rod — who spent the weekend with his daughter Natasha, 3, and estranged wife Cynthia, 34, in Toronto — didn't look "devastated at all" throughout the night, says the attendee.
He obligingly posed for a photo with a fan, but mostly stayed in the V.I.P. area, texting, watching ESPN's Sports Center, chomping on gum and drinking a Bud Light.
As he left the club with Casares around 1:30 a.m., the DJ played Madonna's "Like a Prayer."
Baseball great Reggie Jackson, who currently serves as an adviser to the Yankees, told Us that "A-Rod will be fine," despite his current relationship drama.
"He's a solid guy," Jackson said. "He's been through it all. I wish the best for him, his two girls and his wife."
