FRINGE'S LANCE REDDICK: 'MARIAH WILL HAVE A FILM CAREER' Blog
Sure, he'd heard about the scathing reviews for Glitter. So Fringe star Lance Reddick didn't know what to expect from Mariah Carey when they filmed the indie flick Tennesee.
But after their first scene – in which he shoves her up against a wall and grabs her face – the actor was pleasantly surprised.
"She pulled it off," Reddick, acclaimed for his acting chops on HBO's The Wire, tells PEOPLE. "She really took it seriously. She was committed to proving that she could do this."In the movie due out in January, Carey plays a waitress named Krystal, who tries to escape her abusive husband, portrayed by Reddick, by going on a road trip with two brothers.
Says the actor: "I saw all the subtlety in her work, and it's really beautiful."
Adding that Carey is "very sweet" in person, Reddick says, "After this, I think she's going to have a film career, if she wants one. She is good."
Also good? The success of Reddick's FOX show, Fringe, where he plays a no-nonsense Homeland Security officer.
But, says Reddick, "We goof around a lot," noting that Dawson's Creek alum Joshua Jackson is a a big jokester.
TIdbits for Lost FansAs for J.J. Abrams's other conspiracy-laced hit, Reddick – who plays Matthew Abbadon, a creepy figure who's supposedly a lawyer – just finished filming an episode of Lost in Hawaii.
Any hints? "I was with Terry O'Quinn throughout the entire episode," says Reddick, referring to the actor who plays enigmatic island leader John Locke.
Asked whether he's a good guy or a villain on the show, Reddick says, "This show is so secretive that the only thing I can say is that, whatever may happen in the show, Abbadon definitely thinks he's a good guy. He's convinced that he's on the side of the angels."

DIANE KRUGER IS 'EXCITED TO WORK WITH BRAD PITT' Blog
Diane Kruger isn't up for a trophy at this year's Venice film festival, but Wednesday she received a prize of a different sort.
"I just found out I'm going to do [Quentin] Tarantino's next film with Brad Pitt," Kruger told PEOPLE at the Valentino party in Venice Thursday. "I'm very excited. Quentin just called. I play a German movie star but I don't want to give too much away."
Kruger was in Venice sans boyfriend Joshua Jackson, who's "working – he has a job, you know." But, the actress added, "He comes in on Saturday so I'm excited for that, too."
Kruger said she was "fashionably busy" at the film festival. Besides the Valentino premiere and party, where she sat next to the designer at the film's screening, wearing a beige gown he picked out for her, she's also attending a party Sunday for Jaeger Le Coutre, the Swiss watch company she promotes.RELATED GALLERY: See Brad Pitt go from Sexiest Man Alive to proud papa on the covers of PEOPLE!

JOSHUA JACKSON: "OF COURSE" I'LL SEE KATIE HOLMES ON BROADWAY! Blog
Katie Holmes can count on one familiar face in the audience of All My Sons besides Victoria Beckham: Her former Dawson's Creek co-star Joshua Jackson!
Asked at Monday's NYC Fringe premiere if he'll see Holmes on Broadway, he told reporters: "Of course! Of course!"
Suri, a big fan of Broadway, will also watch mom!
But he said he doesn't really keep in touch with his Creek co-stars.
"How often do you talk to your college friends?" he asked reporters. "I mean, I talk to Michelle [Williams] every once in a while. I talk to Busy [Philipps], who is just about to have a baby, every once in a while."
(Head's up, Josh: She just gave birth to daughter Birdie.)

Meanwhile, Jackson said he recently moved in with his girlfriend, Diane Kruger, in NYC.
The biggest adjustment to playing house?
"Half of the wardrobe I lost," he told Us.
"Maybe it’s a male thing," he said, "but we are like pack rats. There was this shirt from when I was 8, and I was like 'No, I might wear that some day!'" But things like that had to go!"
