Lindsay Lohan was targeted by burglars, after all – but the mess inside her house still can't be blamed on them.
Two unidentified men, one wearing a baseball cap and a bandana over his face, attempted to break into the L.A. home Tuesday, according to security video, which captured their four-door gray station wagon parking in front just before 3 p.m.
"While the driver stayed inside, the passenger suspect stepped out of the vehicle, walked through a gate and entered the backyard of the residence," say police, who are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspects. "Investigators believed that the suspect tried to gain entry by using an unknown type tool to pry open a back window and door. After the unsuccessful attempt, the suspects drove off." | LINDSAY LOHAN LANDS NEW MOVIE ROLE Blog |
Lindsay Lohan is heading back to the silver screen.
The actress hasn't starred in a major feature film since 2007's I Know Who Killed Me, (her 2008 movie Labor Pains went straight to cable). Now, she's been tapped to star in The Other Side, an the independent fantasy comedy costarring Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette.
"It's a wonderful cast and it's shooting on the East Coast, which we are excited about," Lohan's manager-mom Dina told PEOPLE Thursday, of the film, which is slated to start shooting in October on an island off the coast of Massachusetts. The film focuses on "a grad student [Lohan] who must spend the summer working at a scientific institute on a remote island," Variety" reports. "She discovers an eccentric community of characters who are hiding a secret about a tragedy that took place many years before."
The film's director, David Michaels tells Variety that Lohan is psyched for to start shooting. "Lindsay's very aware of people's perceptions of her. She's really committed to doing what she has to in order to change that."

| POLICE FIND MESS AT LINDSAY LOHAN'S HOUSE Blog |
Lindsay Lohan's housekeeping abilities have come under fire by no less a clean-up patrol than the Los Angeles Police.
On Tuesday, reports the Associated Press, officers responded to a 3 p.m. call from a security company that the burglar alarm went off at the star's Hollywood residence. There, officers reportedly discovered evidence of a potential break-in and what was termed a ransacking.
Only it wasn't a ransacking – just a typical mess in the house, police tell the AP. The condition of the home prompted those on the scene to ask, "Is it normally like this, or did the intruders do it?" said Los Angeles police Officer Karen Rayner.
It was determined that the alarm simply must have tripped. Nothing was stolen, and Lohan, 22, was not home at the time. Her rep did not respond to calls requesting comment.

Dina Lohan is slamming recent reports that question her parenting skills and claim that her 15-year-old daughter, Ali, is socializing instead of studying.
"Ali is in a home-schooling program. She has never been pulled out of school," Dina tells PEOPLE exclusively. "It's the same home-schooling program that Lindsay was in since the tenth grade. It's a wonderful program that many celebrities are enrolled in."
Defending her parenting skills, she says, "I am a single mom of four children, and I devote my life to my children."
As for the claims that Ali has been bitten by the partying bug, Dina says her daughter "is working, working hard. She's recording, and she's working on a fashion line. Ali has also been supporting her sister."Lindsay Lohan, who recently split from longtime girlfriend Samantha Ronson, is also focusing on her career, says her mom. "Lindsay is working extremely hard. Her spray tan line sold more than 100,000 units at Sephora in one day."
Dina understands that her family's high profile garners media attention, but says, "We just wish people would leave us alone – at least for Mother's Day!"

A month after their very public breakup, Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson continue to spend time together – and some friends predict that the on-again, off-again couple could soon be on – again.
There's good reason to suspect the couple could reunite: Multiple sources say that Lohan spent Tuesday night an her ex's Los Angeles home. Meanwhile, Lohan herself told E! News Tuesday that she and Ronson are "in touch" and remain friends. Also, while Lohan was in Hawaii and Ronson was in New York City recently, Lohan briefly changed her blackberry messenger name to "LL loves Sam Ronson."
One source close to the couple tells PEOPLE, "Sam might eventually take Lindsay back ... It wouldn't surprise anyone." A friend of Lohan's says this breakup could be like other times in the past. "It's a cycle that can go on forever. Now that things have died down a little and Lindsay is behaving herself and showing Sam what she wants to see, Sam's strength to stay away eases up."
However, one friend tells PEOPLE that Sam has "no plans to take her back."
Another source close to Ronson says a reconciliation won't happen without serious repercussions. "Sam's family will literally lose all respect if she goes back to Lindsay, and that's what's convincing her things are really over," says the source.
"They do text, [blackberry messanger], have visits," continues the source. "Lindsay plays stupid mind games saying she is being pursued by major celebrity actors. She has a lot of free time to play all these childish games."
But Ronson is still torn, adds the source: "Sam knows in her head, life is truly better off without Lindsay – even if her heart sometimes says otherwise."

Samantha Ronson, Pamela Anderson and Shannen Doherty were not too pleased when they found out they were headed to a strip club Tuesday night.

They all signed on to attend the grand opening of Sapphire Gentleman's Club in NYC without realizing there would be topless dancers and bodypainted performers.
Ronson -- who recently broke up with girlfriend Lindsay Lohan -- was visibly angry for having to DJ at the event.

"Sam feels she got tricked into performing," a source told Usmagazine.com the day of the party. "She didn't know it was a strip club. She doesn't want to go on tonight!"
In fact, she wrote on her Twitter page that she was not aware that the party was at a strip club when she signed on.
"Note to self: read the whole email ... before saying yes to DJ gigs," she wrote. "Sapphire??? Oops!"

Ronson, who refused to pose for photos or do interviews, worked the DJ booth as Sapphire dancers performed provocatively right in front of her. Still, Ronson focused on her music and did not look at the performers once.
"The silver lining to my night -- it has never been more appropriate for me to play 'Make it Rain,'" Ronson wrote on her Twitter page later in the evening.
Shannen Doherty -- who was accompanied by her boyfriend, Noah Tepperberg -- was equally as surprised by the venue.

"I had no idea it was a strip club!" Doherty, who left after 45 minutes, told Us. "They told me it was a restaurant or club, so I was kind of in shock."
Also in attendance that night was Pamela Anderson, who kept to herself in a roped-off booth. Her security guard told Us that she wanted to be "left alone."

Linday Lohan's wraith-like appearance this week while shopping with her sister, Ali, in Los Angeles has shocked even some of her closest friends, sources tell PEOPLE.
"She is a self-destructive person," says a source close to Lohan. "It's all part of her cry for attention. She wants Sam [Ronson, her ex-girlfriend] to see how bad she's hurting and she wants Hollywood to see her as a 'tortured artist' who is wasting away … This is a symptom of something much bigger – a desperate need to be noticed."
The cry for help appears to be working, at least to an extent. Lohan has spoken publicly about her recent breakup, telling Ellen DeGeneres on her show April 23 that the split "came out of nowhere." And yet the pair continue to spend time together.
On Thursday, Lohan visited Ronson at her Los Angeles home for about six hours. According to a source, "Lindsay had her assistant drive her to Sam's house around 1 p.m." When Lohan left six hours later, the source says, she looked "very happy." While Lohan may have looked happy, her extremely thin appearance is cause for worry among friends. "When Lindsay is off-balance, she'll pull out every issue you can imagine," says another source close Ronson. "She doesn't eat. She stays up all night and sleeps all day, so she misses meals. When she is doing good, when she is happy, her appetite is healthy and her weight is healthy."
Lindsay Lohan's rep tells PEOPLE that the actress' thin frame is not cause for concern, saying, "Her weight is fine." And a Lohan friend scoffs at reports that the star is spiraling downward and that her weight is alarmingly troublesome. "Lindsay has been in a very good place," says the source.
It's ComplicatedOn Friday, Ronson changed her Facebook relationship status from "single" to "It's complicated." Of the switch, the source close to Ronson says she changes things on her Facebook page all the time as a joke. "It would be crazy to base any real information on what she has there. She is single. Tomorrow it might say she is married to Tom Cruise, you never know."
Meanwhile, another source says the Ronson family is "stressed out by the relationship." "Lindsay is so controlling that she could have had all the Ronson siblings be on her side if she was nice to them, but she always had to be in charge of the situation," says the source. "If they are on their way to Gucci, she will make them all go to Prada."
Even going to a bar or restaurant is cause for strife. "She has to go to the one she wants," says the source. "She will have a fit if she is not riding shotgun [in the front seat]. And if she doesn't get her way, she will complain and harass until she gets her way."
As for the couple continuing to talk, that's no surprise, says the source. "Samantha's not a mean person who would ditch her," says one. "She doesn't hate her – it's just too much."

The plus side of being single: She can focus more on her career.
"I feel like I want to get my career back in shape," said the actress, who has some producing projects in the works and is doing a movie in October. "When people are together so much it gets really difficult, and you forget who you are because you're more concerned about being with the other person. I think it's been really good for me. I thought it would be so much harder, and it hasn't been. My sister’s been here with me."
Asked "what" she thought would be harder," Lohan replied, "Just this whole situation. I've had great people surrounding me, and I've just been working every single day."

She says she will stay on her own for the time being.
"I'm not looking to be with anyone right now," Lohan adds. "I don't need to deal with that. It gets too distracting from everything that I need to focus on. Leaving town, you miss someone too much and you don't want to go sometimes, but I really care about Samantha and we'll see what happens. Maybe when we're fully in the right place... I love her."

What's more difficult than enduring a painful breakup in the public eye?
"When you don't know you're breaking up," says Lindsay Lohan. "Really weird."
The 22-year-old actress shared her ordeal with somebody who knows all about a high-profile breakup: Ellen DeGeneres, whose split with Anne Heche in 2000 dominated celebrity news.
In an Ellen DeGeneres show airing Thursday, Lohan tells the talk show host that the breakup with Samantha Ronson, 31, earlier this month "came out of nowhere."
"I had no idea what was going on. I just hadn't seen her in, like, a week. She, like, disappeared," Lohan says. Lohan Denies CheatingLohan didn't discuss what may have led to it after a "really tough night" but denied infidelity was the cause. "I don't believe in cheating on someone," says Lohan.
DeGeneres said that after her own public breakup, "I kind of lost my career for a little while and I went away ... and I literally hibernated and got myself back together." She asked Lohan if she wanted to run away.
"I feel like I want to get my career back in shape," she said, adding that being away from Ronson – and not dating anybody regularly right now – may be a positive step.
Trying to Be Optimistic"You know when people are together so much it gets really difficult and you forget who you are because you're more concerned about being with the other person," said Lohan. "I think it's been really good for me. I thought it would be so much harder and it hasn't been. My sister's been here with me."
And Lohan still holds hope that the split won't be permanent. "I really care about Samantha and we'll see what happens," she says. "Maybe when we're fully in the right place. And I love her."

Is Lindsay Lohan the next star to headline a Las Vegas act?
Possibly. The actress has approached the producer of Peepshow, a new Las Vegas revue, about joining the act in several months, PEOPLE has learned.
"I think she would be great in the show," Peepshow's producer Jerry Mitchell told PEOPLE. "I would need to meet with her and dance a bit as I would with anyone who would love to be a part of Peepshow."Lohan was in Las Vegas Saturday taking in the performance that stars former Dancing with the Stars contestants Melanie Brown and Kelly Monaco. If Lohan were to join the show, she would take over for Monaco in several months in a role that requires Monaco to strip down to almost nothing – something that won't change if Lohan starred.
"When the character strips she does it because she has learned to be strong by the other character/dancers in the show, and by watching them take charge with their considerable assets," Mitchell said. "I am sure I could do the same for Miss Lohan."

Don't worry about Samantha Ronson.
The celebrity deejay, who recently split with longtime girlfriend Lindsay Lohan, is just fine, her mother, Anne Dexter Jones, told PEOPLE Wednesday at Thompson L.E.S. where she was celebrating Charlotte Ronson and Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss's Made With Love swimsuit line at a party hosted by Lucky magazine.
"She's doing great," Dexter Jones, told PEOPLE when asked how Ronson is faring after her high-profile breakup. "She's really, really well."
For now, Ronson is keeping herself busy, said her mom, will soon debut her line of high-end jewelry in London and Los Angeles. "She's always working. But I don't pry," said Dexter Jones. "I'm giving her her space. She's strong and smart and with a great heart."As for her thoughts on Lohan, Ronson's mom would only say, "Sam is a strong, fabulous girl … But I think it is good that I don't comment on Lindsay."
A pal who knows both the Lohan and the Ronson clans, says that the actress is relying on her family for support and getting back to work. "Lindsay's great," said the close pal. "She's working really hard on her career. At the same time, it was nice to see that her mother and her sister came out to support her. Sometimes down moments bring that closeness."
The same friend also praised Lohan for making light of the situation in her fake eHarmony ad, saying, "She let people know she's still young and fun with lots of energy and talent by making fun of herself."
In terms of Lohan and Ronson's future, the source said, "I think it [is] nice for them to take a little break. And who knows, it's not permanent ... They could end up back together."

Josh Hartnett says his stomach scare -- which sent him to the hospital last month -- wasn't a big deal.
"I'm fine, I had a stomach bug -- it was literally, like, a 24 hour thing," the actor, 30, said at the Sixth Annual New Yorkers for Children Spring Dinner Dance Wednesday night.

"I was so dehydrated that I needed to be on a couple of IVs. I'm good," he continued.
Hartnett was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. at 1:45 a.m. from celebrity hot spot Cheateau Marmont, but his rep told Us then it was a "flare up" of an ongoing gastrointestinal problem that also plagued him while starring in the London stage version of Rain Man.
"[Media] made a huge deal about it because I left the Chateau Marmont -- you know," he said, naming the same hotel Lindsay Lohan got into her famous feud with Samantha Ronson's family. "That's where I always stay in L.A....you know, they wanna' come up with whatever they want to come up with."

Hartnett says his stomach has been bothering him "for months. It's been recurring because I've spent a lot of time in third world countries and I drink the water occasionally when I shouldn't, I shower and -- [it's] nothing to worry about!
"I'll be around for awhile," he joked.
Since his brief hospitalization, the actor has been spotted partying at Miami club Florida Room and Lit in NYC.

"She wanted to do a Funny or Die video with all the stuff that everyone's saying," director Eric Appel tells Us. "She wanted to respond to it in a funny way, show that she gets it."

Lohan reached out to Will Ferrell's manager Wednesday about shooting a spoof. By Thursday, the team was pitching her ideas. On Friday, they had a script written. They filmed the one-and-a-half-minute clip in under two hours on Saturday.

"She came up with the stuff about being a threat to all security guards -- she improvised while doing it," he says. "She threw in a bunch of fun, funny stuff."

"She came in, did her thing, was really professional," Appel says. "People forget Lindsay Lohan's, like, a good actress. There's so much attention [to everything she does], but...you forget this girl has really good comic timing."

Lindsay Lohan recently got a new tattoo as part of her post-breakup makeover. But what does it say?
According to a source who has seen the new ink, Lohan, 22, got a Marilyn Monroe quote tattooed in cursive on her inner-wrist during her visit to the Shamrock Social Club in West Hollywood last week. Monroe's full quote is: "Everyone's a star and deserves the right to twinkle." The wording is also surrounded by yellow, blue and green stars.
It's no surprise that Lohan's latest body art was inspired by the Hollywood legend. Last year, she recreated Monroe's famous nude 1962 photo shoot for New York magazine, telling the publication at the time that Monroe's life could serve as a cautionary tale. Namely, she said, Monroe was a "prime example of what this industry can do to someone."After her split with Samantha Ronson, Lohan has been struggling, a source says, noting, "She feels alone. All of their mutual friends have turned on her; she's 22 but this would be tough to handle at any age."
But another source close to Lohan says the starlet is actually stronger than she's being made out to be. "She's being painted as this victim, but she's not," that source says. "She's a strong girl."

A week after Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson's dramatic split, a friend of Lohan's says the star is "heartbroken."
"Sam and Lindsay are speaking," the source tells PEOPLE. "But Sam has begged Lindsay to get help."
"Lindsay, despite appearances, is insecure and has relied on Samantha and their relationship to build her up," explains the pal. "Lindsay barely sleeps, which explains a lot of her behavior. She's exhausted. She can't even sit down for a minute without pacing around the room. It's really sad."
Since Ronson broke up with her last week in Los Angeles, Lohan has kept busy: Thursday night, she was spotted at the Chateau Marmont before meeting up with friends at Bar Delux, where a fellow club-goer reported, "her mood was frantic. She looked worn out, and really skinny." A source also tells PEOPLE that "Lindsay continued partying after Delux that night." Friday night Lohan laid low while Ronson deejayed a party in San Francisco.Lohan's tendencies for erratic behavior have sparked concern among Ronson's friends that Lohan might act out, but her friend says that she is not the only one to blame for the former couple's intense dynamic.
"While Sam doesn’t want to deal with the drama, in a sick way she is obsessed with this part of Lindsay's behavior," the friend says. "It's like she doesn't want it, but when Lindsay stops writing, she begins to miss it."
Despite her difficult week, Lohan has discovered a silver lining in the support she's received from her younger sister Ali. "Lindsay never realized until this happened how important her sister was to her," the friend says.
"Through all of this, her sister has been there for her and coaching her through it. Lindsay doesn't even know what she would have done without her."

Lohan gave the newest issue of Us Weekly> a wide-ranging interview over several lengthy phone calls and emails where she was agitated and crying over her recent split from Sam Ronson. Sources told Us they feared she was suicidal.

Continues Griffin: "It feels like kicking her when she's down. Believe it or not, I might kind of take her out for the time being. That's a little hard to find the comedy in."
