RACHAEL RAY DENIES HAVING THROAT CANCER SCARE Blog
Rachael Ray is shooting down reports that she had a throat cancer scare and is about to be silenced for two months by surgery.
The bubbly Emmy winning talk show host is having surgery – but it's not as serious as reports suggest, according to her rep.
"Rachael is the picture of health. She is having very minor surgery to remove a benign cyst on her vocal cord," says Charlie Dougiello, a spokesman for Ray. "It's a common in-and-out procedure that she will have in early December and it will not adversely effect any of her daytime show or Food Network tapings." The National Enquirer had reported that Ray, 40, was scared she had throat cancer, which required surgery that would prevent her from speaking for about two months and would disrput her work schedule.
Although, she will have to rest her voice for a week or so after the
procedure, the ailment hasn't slowed down the busy TV star.
"She's totally fine. It's just something she needs to take care of. She hasn't been feeling ill," says a source.
In 2006, Ray told PEOPLE that she's had issues with her voice for ages. "I lose my voice a lot," she said at the time. "I had a lot of croup as a kid so I don't have the strongest vocal cords to begin with. I went to a voice doctor [who] taught me exercises for my throat and to cut back a little on the caffeine."
Ray is currently in Italy celebrating her third wedding anniversary with husband John Cusimano, family and friends.

COUPLES WATCH: NICOLE & JOEL, PENN & BLAKE Blog
Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, commandeering a couch in the back of West Hollywood's Chateau Marmont with a group of friends. Richie ate a salad and sipped on some white wine during her night out. She was enjoying her friends' company when, according to an onlooker, Natalie Portman walked inside and took a seat on a nearby couch. (Portman had been laughing loudly over dinner on the patio.) The actress greeted Richie before slipping out through the crowded lobby. After Portman left, Richie and her friends relocated, bringing their party to the patio.
Penn Badgley and Blake Lively, sitting together at an intimate screening of the rugby movie Forever Strong, in which the Gossip Girl actor sports funky facial hair. The pair whispered to other during the film, then took pictures with fans outside the Tribeca Grand Hotel, where the screening took place. Next up? An afterparty at the North Loft Penthouse of the Soho Grand. Rachael Ray, singing along and dancing as her husband John Cusimano and his band performed at a City Harvest charity event at New York's Skylight Studios. When the star chef wasn't rocking out to her hubby's tunes, she chatted with party guests, including Chris Rock's wife Malaak and Alex McCord from The Real Housewives of New York City. Meanwhile, Helena Christensen hosted her own charity event – for the Food Bank For New York City – at the Winston Wächter gallery, where she was never far away from her rocker beau Paul Banks. The supermodel auctioned off signed goods at the celeb-studded event (attended by Bono and Michael Stipe), which was sponsored by Belvedere. (See more stars and their indie-rock loves!)

RACHAEL RAY WENT SKYDIVING ON 40TH BIRTHDAY Blog
How did Rachael Ray ring in the big 4-0?
By skydiving.
For the fourth time.
"I find it strangely calming," she told Lifeline Live in an interview about the new season of her show, USA Today reports. "I feel at peace afterward."
Can you believe these stars are 40?
She also celebrated her latest milestone with a check-up by her doctor.
Relax — everything's fine.
She said she has "perfect blood pressure," but she has bruised her vocal chords.
"I never shut up long enough for that to heal," said Ray, who added that she does "about 280 episodes" a year. "They’re going to try to teach me how to speak properly. I don’t know if an old dog can learn new tricks, but I'm going to try."
She has been taking antacids, downing herbal tea and using an Echinacea spray. "I must learn how to change the way I speak," she said.
Ray is gearing up for her third season of her daytime talk show (premiering Monday, September 8).
Her first guest: Ed McMahon.
"Ed McMahon is absolutely amazing. What a icon. What a gentleman," she said.
She said she was "really impressed" that he confessed his recent financial woes.
"He bonded with all of America by telling them, 'Hey, you guys aren’t the only ones suffering,' Ray said. "I thought that was a such brave, cool, honest thing."
Also expected this season: Jessica Simpson, Paula Abdul, America Ferrara, Shannen Doherty, New Kids on the Block, Ty Pennington and Rosie O'Donnell, among others.
