• Jessica Alba, celebrating a friend's birthday
with dinner at Eva Longoria Parker's
Hollywood restaurant Beso. The actress and her three girlfriends had a blast
– and were the last group to leave. "They were having a lot of fun,
sipping on some wine; it was girls night out," says a fellow diner. "Jessica
was in a great mood."
• The "very energetic" Jonas Brothers, eating
coconut shrimp at The Kress in Hollywood. The teen stars finished off their
meal with the restaurant's signature mini ice cream cones – then
stopped into the kitchen to personally thank the head chef.
• Were they talking about fashion? Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, chatting up Kate Bosworth at a party in Paris. The twins (and designers) were feting
the launch of New York's Mr. West Lounge at the overseas bash where they
chatted and danced all night.
• Vince Vaughn, proudly waving on the JumboTron at
the Los Angeles Dodgers game. Only problem? The actor was sporting a Chicago
Cubs hat. When Dodgers fans got a glimpse of Vaughn, they booed him, though
he didn't seem to mind; he was sitting with his guy friends in the baseline
seats. Among the other celebrities at the game: Pierce Brosnan looked "dashing," an onlooker tells us of the former James Bond, who sported a suit.
• Russell Crowe, joining an enthusiastic crowd at Canadian
rock band Great Big Sea's show
at the House of Blues Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. The actor watched most
of the show from the VIP seating, but he jumped onstage during the
encore to join the band.
• Hamlet 2 star Elizabeth Shue, enjoying a family
treat at L.A.'s N’iceCream. The Academy Award-nominated actress grabbed
gelato with her director husband Davis Guggenheim and two of her
kids. Shue also chatted with the store's owner as her family ate the
strawberry gelato.

Russell Crowe is not the kind of guy to tussle with. But when it comes to being a daddy, he says that he can be a softie.
"Between my wife and myself, I'm the pushover as far as the kids are concerned," Crowe told PEOPLE Sunday at the New York premiere of his new spy thriller, Body of Lies, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio.
"I wouldn't call myself strict as such," the actor says of his two young boys with wife Danielle Spencer. "But I have certain desires for my boys, like any parent. I want my boys to be good boys."
In Body of Lies, Crowe plays a CIA honcho who gives life or death commands to agents in the field from his cell phone in the suburbs while taking his kids to soccer practice. Like his character, Crowe says he is the kind of dad who multitasks. "Everybody who's got kids knows exactly what that drill is," he says. "When you are the father of two, and sometimes mom's got to work, you got to do it, man."
Crowe also clarified that he isn't planning his 2-year-old son's marriage to Nicole Kidman's infant daughter just yet. The actor recently joked to PEOPLE about how Kidman had told him recently that she wanted his son, Tennyson, to marry her 2 1/2-month-old daughter, Sunday Rose Urban.
When asked how likely that is, he laughed and said, "At this point in time they share a birthday. That's all they share at this time."

Talk about a hefty commitment!
Russell Crowe, who famously buffed his bod for Ridley Scott's Gladiator eight years ago, tells Extra that he packed on 63 extra pounds for his role in Scott’s new suspense thriller Body of Lies.
Crowe, 44, says bulking up was a pleasure: "I'll have that cheeseburger for breakfast, thank you!" he jokes of his attitude toward the weight gain.
Though the Aussie has been known in the past for his affinity to his native VB beer, he says he avoided drinking as a way of gaining weight – because of his boys, Charlie, 4, and Tennyson, 2. "The drinking thing has sort of taken a different place in my life since I had kids," Crowe says.
"There are a whole lot of things I don't do anymore because it affects my level of patience. I don't want to be in that place where I'm exasperated with these beautiful children."

From hunk to chunk!
To play a manipulative CIA boss in Body of Lies (out Oct. 10), Russell Crowe had to pack on 63 lbs.
"'I'll have the cheeseburger for breakfast, thank you,'" he recalls thinking, according to a new Extra interview. (He adds that he also had his share of Sprinkles cupcakes.)

The spy thriller marks the first time Crowe has worked with Leonardo DiCaprio since 1995's The Quick and the Dead.
"[It's] pretty much exactly the same... except [DiCaprio] can drink legally now and he's no longer a virgin," Crowe jokes of their reunion.
Crowe says he couldn't stop pranking his co-star in between takes.
"I'd wait until he was sitting in the makeup chair, and I'd walk past him and go, 'A-choo!' and I'd squirt the atomizer so just little bits of fine mist would form on his face and he’d obviously assume it was mucus."
DiCaprio laughed it off.
"I'm really happy. It's been bothering me for days," he says sarcastically.

Crowe also opens up about being dad to sons, Charlie, 4, and Tennyson 2.
He says boozing has taken a backseat since having kids.

Russell Crowe jokes that a bride has already been picked out for his 2-year-old son Tennyson – 2 1/2-month-old Sunday Rose Urban.
Sunday not only has the same birthday as Tennyson, she just happens to be the daughter of Crowe's close pals Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman"Nicole had one look at my younger son Tennyson, and looked up at me and said, 'I'm a great believer in arranged marriages,'" the actor said Friday in Beverly Hills while promoting his film Body of Lies. "I believe she made the connection between Sunday and Tennyson now – so Tennyson is already engaged!" It was all worked out at Crowe's home in Australia recently, he says.
"Nicole and Keith brought Sunday Rose around on a Sunday, which I thought was appropriate," noted the actor, adding, "But Sunday Rose is a beautiful child with beautiful delicate features and it was fun when she brought her around Sunday – it was nice."
Crowe, who has two children with wife Danielle Spencer, says that fatherhood just gets better. "It's the most fantastic thing I've ever experienced," he says "and it continues to get more fun and more complex with every day."

After eight years of silence, Meg Ryan is finally opening up about her failed marriage to Dennis Quaid and the reason for their shocking split.
In 2000, Ryan, now 46, famously had a fling with her Proof of Life co-star Russell Crowe; the affair ended her marriage to Quaid (with whom she has a son, Jack, 16).

But she tells the new issue of InStyle (excerpted by Entertainment Tonight), "Dennis was not faithful to me for a very long time, and that was very painful.
"I found out more about that after I was divorced," she adds.

She also says being dubbed "America's Sweetheart" was stifling at the time.
"It's an old-fashioned idea, so anachronistic. I understood it was a compliment about being lovable, and it felt nice ... but it also felt, after a time, like ideas were being projected onto me that had nothing to do with me," she says.
"The girl next door to what?" she continues. "I never felt like a very conventional person."
So she says she purposely chose to take a break from the public spotlight.
"I've been famous for a long time, and these last years, there's been a great lull," she says. "So it has been me throwing a backpack on, traveling a lot -- it's been fantastic."
She found something special along the way: Daughter Daisy, a baby girl from China, whom she adopted three years ago.

"I don't feel like I adopted a child. I feel like I just got this unbelievable companion," Ryan tells the magazine. "Daisy is brilliant. This kid says things every day that make you just stop and stare at her."

Meg Ryan says going from being "America's sweetheart" to the "scarlet woman" was painful but liberating.
The 46-year-old actress, who can currently be seen on screen in The Women, opens up in the October issue of In Style about her affair with Proof of Life costar Russell Crowe and problems she was having with then-husband Quaid, which led to their divorce.
"Dennis was not faithful to me for a long time, and that was very painful," she says, adding, "I am not a victim. I was there. I was in that marriage for a really long time.""It was also incredibly liberating," she tells the magazine of the public split. "Now I was utterly free. I didn’t have to care about what people thought. I have gotten to do what I guess I secretly wanted to do. Be totally under the radar and live my life."
Also free – from blame – is Crowe, she says. The two were romantically involved at the end her marriage, but "Russell didn’t break up the marriage," she says. "I was a mess. I hurt him too at the end. I couldn’t be in another long relationship. It wasn’t the time for that. So I got out."
Ryan says she's enjoyed being out of the spotlight for the past few years, taking time to raise son Jack, 16, and daughter Daisy, whom she adopted from China in 2006.
"As mysterious and magical as it is to have a baby you gave birth to, I have that exact same thing with Daisy," Ryan says. "I feel like we made some agreement, long ago and far away, to meet in the way we did."

"It's very difficult to be a career person and have a relationship," she tells Hello magazine. "I didn't succeed at doing it at all. It's incredibly hard.
"I think you have to figure out some way of keeping all of those capabilities and requirements in your life in balance," the 46-year-old adds.

Ryan split from Dennis Quaid, whom she'd been married to for 10 years, after having an affair with Proof of Life co-star Russell Crowe in 2000.
But that relationship soon fizzled.

"I empowered myself by not staying in the thing with Russell," she said in 2006. "I felt it was going to be repeating some similar patterns that I'd just gotten out of and it was a drag because I was crazy about him."
Ryan later told Oprah Winfrey that, "Russell wasn't a homewrecker," because her relationship with Quaid was already on the outs before she got involved with him.
The actress, who appears in The Women next month, has been lying low.
She adopted daughter Daisy True, 3, from China two years ago. She's also mother to Jack Henry, 15, from her marriage to Quaid.

Sunday Rose Urban may have arrived with her parents Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban in their native Australia only last Wednesday, but already the month-old star baby is traveling in some rarefied atmosphere.
On Tuesday she got a taste of moviemaking – alongside her mom on the Sydney set of the period epic Australia.
With Sunday safely nestled in a white baby sling across her mother's chest, Kidman – outfitted in period clothing covered by a long coat, and with her hair set in a 1930s style – took a stroll in the company of her two off-screen leading men: husband Urban and her father, Dr. Antony Kidman.
Sunday was another big day for all-star socializing. Visiting the Urbans at their harborside home were Kidman's Australia costar, Hugh Jackman, along with his entire family: wife Deborah-Lee Furness, son Oscar and daughter Ava.
After they departed, Kidman and her immediate family – Urban and Sunday Rose – paid their own social call to the home of longtime pal Russell Crowe, at Sydney's posh Woolloomooloo Wharf.
