CARRIE, LEANN AND MORE TO DUET WITH ELVIS Blog
Some of Country's queens are getting the chance to sing with the King on an upcoming album of Christmas tracks.
"Elvis Presley Christmas Duets" pairs the voice of Presley with the likes of Carrie Underwood and LeAnn Rimes – both of whom were born after the musical legend had died. Martina McBride, Sara Evans, and Wynonna Judd also lend their voices to the tunes. Underwood 'duets' with Presley on "I'll be Home for Christmas," while Rimes takes on "Here Comes Santa Claus" and McBride croons with the King on the Presley favorite "Blue Christmas."Additional tracks include: "Silent Night" with Evans; "Santa Claus is Back In Town" with Judd; "Merry Christmas Baby" with Gretchen Wilson; "Silver Bells" with Anne Murray; "White Christmas" with Amy Grant; and "O Little Town" with Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town.
The songs are being recorded in Nashville's RCA Studio B–the same studio where Elvis recorded his original 1971 Christmas sessions. "We are so pleased that these accomplished artists are collaborating with Elvis in this unique way to make exciting new versions of his Christmas songs," Priscilla Presley said in a press release. "I am sure Elvis would be proud to have worked with them."
Tracks from the album will be previewed Aug. 14 during the 2008 Elvis Week in Memphis.

SHERYL CROW RECALLS HER FASHION FAUX PAS Blog
Sheryl Crow's simple, laidback style wasn't always so effortless, the singer revealed to a group of college students Wednesday.
"It was a big internal battle for me, between being a vamp and being credible as an artist," Crow informed 25 students at GRAMMY SoundChecks, a program that offers GRAMMY University college students the opportunity to experience a sound-check rehearsal with an artist.
Crow said her experiments with different looks did not always sit well with record label execs – or fans.
"One time I colored my hair dark and had a meeting at the label and one of the guys looked at me, obviously upset and said, 'You're going to change that back, right?' " she said. "Then when I cut my hair short, my career tanked for about four years!" Crow, 46, said she was once afraid that looking good would mean she wasn't a "credible" artist. But those days are long gone. "At this age, I'm just a lot more relaxed about it," she told the audience. "I can look pretty and wear make-up and not be afraid it will take away my credibility."
Tour Kicks OffCrow certainly doesn't have to worry about success anymore. Her 25-city Detours tour kicks off Thursday at the Sommet Center in Nashville, where she lives on a rural farm with 15-month old son Wyatt and a stable full of horses.
Nowadays, Crow measures her credibility by her mothering skills. Her phone rang several times during the event and she smiled, explaining that it was the nanny, checking on Wyatt's bedtime. "I've been away from him all day. I'm always with him. He comes on the road and has 30 daddies to carry him around. It's hard, not being there to put him to bed."
Despite her busy schedule, she says being a mom and living in Nashville gives her a chance to have a low-key life with her son. "It's easy to live here. There's no paparazzi hounding you. People are very genuine and easygoing."
Still, it's not that normal: Crow keeps some high-wattage company in town. "I had lunch recently with Sara Evans and Faith Hill," she said. "No one bothered us at all. We were able to eat and talk and enjoy each other's company."

JESSICA SIMPSON BOOED AT FIRST COUNTRY CONCERT Blog
Jessica Simpson's first country concert was met with mixed reactions.
Audiences booed and clapped as the singer, 28, opened for Sara Evans on Satturday at the Country Thunder USA festival in Randall, Wisconsin.
"I don't know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I'm just a girl from Texas," Simpson told the crowd. "I'm just like you. I'm doing what I love and dating a boy."

She dedicated the tune "You're My Sunday" to beau Tony Romo, who was in the audience, and performed a slew of covers — including Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" — as well as her new single "Come On Over."

One concertgoer told the local paper: "I'll have to drink a lot of beer to sit through her concert."
Added another: "She's an embarrassment to country music."
Not all were haters.
One fan told the paper, "I actually like her country songs better. She has a great voice, plus, she's adorable."
Despite the lukewarm buzz, her father Joe recently told Usmagazine.com his daughter — whose album drops September 9 - is ready for country.
"It feels really good," he said of her album. "She is extremely happy."
