| MELISSA RYCROFT FINDS HER TRUE LOVE, AT LAST Blog |
She didn't end up the winner on The Bachelor or Dancing with the Stars, but Melissa Rycroft is proving she's lucky in love.
Last month, she accepted a marriage proposal from Dallas insurance agent Tye Strickland – and the couple couldn't happier.
"Tye is my true love," Rycroft, 26, tells PEOPLE in its new issue.
Seven months ago, Rycroft was engaged to The Bachelor's Jason Mesnick. Their relationship ended when Mesnick broke up with Rycroft on the "After the Final Rose" special so he could pursue a relationship with the show's runner-up Molly Malaney. That situation, Rycroft says, did not mark the end of the world, because it led her back to Strickland, whom she'd previously dated for 2½ years.
"No disrespect [to Jason] at all, but that situation doesn't compare to where I am now – engaged and happy. It's a different feeling," says Rycroft.
"The last six months have not been normal," Strickland, 28, acknowledges, speaking for the first time about his relationship with Rycroft. "But we wouldn't change it because what we had to go through has allowed us to be where we are today. It's been a blessing in disguise, and I don't think either of us has ill feelings towards anyone."
Rycroft, who has been doing feature correspondent work for Good Morning America this summer, says she and Strickland have set a wedding date, but "we're keeping it private. It will be a big party. I just want it to be a fun day everyone will remember."

| PAL: SIMPSON FAMILY 'FEELS BAD' FOR JESSICA Blog |
Jessica Simpson's recent estrogen-filled weekend hanging out with her girlfriends and watching chick flicks with her mom was a welcome bright spot in an otherwise difficult week for the newly single singer.
Since Tony Romo broke up with Simpson on the eve of her 29th birthday, "She's a little depressed," says a Simpson family friend.
"She takes breakups really badly," adds another source close to Simpson. "She has a hard time letting go."The singer-actress has had a rocky romantic record, which includes her divorce from Nick Lachey and her on-again, off-again relationship with John Mayer. But Romo seemed an ideal fit for Simpson, who last year called the Dallas Cowboys quarterback "the love of my life."
So far, Simpson has been coping with the split by living a low-key life and seeking solace with her parents, who "encourage her to go out and have a good time, like she did this week," says the Simpson family friend.
But when she's out in public, "she feels she's being judged by the world and opts to hide out at home," says the friend. "The family feels bad for Jessica. They worry for her a lot."
That wasn't always the case. "The family used to have such faith in [Jessica] and they worried about Ashlee," says the family friend. "Now they are fully confident in Ashlee's choices and they worry most of their days about Jessica. It seems she just can't catch a break."

For Kiefer Sutherland, it's case closed on both coasts, no ifs, ands or headbutts.
"We declined to prosecute after a full investigation," Manhattan District Attorney spokeswoman Alicia Maxey Greene tells PEOPLE of the highly publicized alleged cranial collision with a New York fashion designer in May. "That included speaking to the complaining witness, who was quite uncooperative."
Sutherland, 42, is also off the hook with the L.A. City Attorney's office, which investigated the actor for a possible probation violation. Sutherland is currently serving a five-year probation term following a second DUI conviction in 2007. "Based on the evidence and information received from New York officials, as well as our own independent review of the evidence, we will not be seeking a violation of Sutherland's probation," L.A. City Attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan says.
Sutherland's attorney, Blair Berk, declined to comment.
In May, the 24 star and his alleged victim Jack McCollough resolved their differences, issuing a joint statement. "I am sorry about what happened that night and sincerely regret that Mr. McCollough was injured," Sutherland said. McCollough added: "I appreciate Mr. Sutherland's statement and wish him well."

Mischa Barton's personal demons not only included a DUI arrest, relationship breakups and a hospitalization at a psychiatric ward – the actress also struggled with a fluctuating weight and body image.
"She has big self-esteem issues. ... She hates her legs," says a source close to Barton. "She isn't comfortable with her body. It's been a big source of stress and self-hate."
Speculation about 23-year-old actress's weight and nasty comments from tabloids and blogs also fueled insecurity."She had a big problem with those photos of her cellulite. … She didn't like it," says another source. "That just was something that contributed to her spiraling but she didn't do much to fix it because of her partying."
While another friend tells PEOPLE the photos upset the former O.C. star – "[She was] more pissed off than hurt and she complained a lot about that" – she didn't let them get "to her too much. ... I never saw her diet."
But when photos showed a thinner Barton, she took to her blog and spoke out about the "crazy press," telling fans that she's "happier and healthier than ever so there's no need to worry about me."
"Just be happy and secure with yourself," she wrote on her Web site. "Don't let other people's perceptions of you dictate the way you live your life."

Celebrating their baby-on-the-way – a boy – Tisha Campbell-Martin and husband Duane Martin were joined by celebrity friends for a French Cirque du Bebe-themed shower, held Saturday afternoon in California.
Hosted by family friend Jayneoni Moore, the bash drew pals Samuel L. Jackson, Leah Remini, Cedric the Entertainer, Holly Robinson Peete, Eriq La Salle, Niecy Nash and Pauletta Washington.
Styling by Jennifer Sbranti of Hostess with the Mostess transformed the lavish location into a whimsical wonderland complete with mod elephant vases, monkey statues, zebra-print tablecloths, sparkly crystals and giant ostrich feather "trees" comprised of more than 200 electric blue and golden yellow feathers. "I was so surprised by everything and how extraordinary the party was," said the Rita Rocks star, 40. "I am such a control freak and usually plan my parties, but this was the most beautiful – from the people, to the decor, to the food."
Martin’s creative, French-inspired menu was catered by The Party Goddess and included an opulent cheese display overflowing with olives pâtés, le petite beef sliders topped with triple cream brie and homemade sweet potato fries dusted with Cajun spices.
Guests sipped on specialty drinks that included a "French Martin-tini, "Toast to Tisha" and fresh blueberry lemonade with mint leaves, – from bartenders in masks reminiscent of Mardi Gras – while sweet tooths were satisfied with Heavenly Cupcakes' 5-tier tower displaying over 200 gourmet treats.
Due in early fall with a baby brother for son Xen, who turns 8 next month, Martin was ecstatic about her Peanut Shell-sponsored shower.
"Everyone enjoyed themselves," said Martin. "It felt more like a family reunion than anything else, which was just the best!"

Congratulations are not in order – at least not yet – for Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy.
Despite a report published Tuesday that Kennedy had proposed to his girlfriend onstage at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, Calif., over the weekend, reps for both stars say it's not the case. "There's no truth to the report," says Hewitt's rep. Kennedy's rep echoes: "There's no truth to this report whatsoever."But that doesn't mean that the lovebirds, who both star on Ghost Whisperer, haven't discussed marriage. Last month, the pair talked about engagement rumors on 104.7 FM's Johnjay and Rich Show in Arizona. When Kennedy asked Hewitt for an engagement timeline, she said, "By this time next year, if we're not planning something, then there's a situation."
Meanwhile, Kennedy has other things on his mind. After his Saturday night comedy show, he Tweeted, "Last nite long beach was epic. YOU GUYS WERE AMAZING. My girl had so much fun. Thats the first time she ever went topless."

| BEN ROETHLISBERGER DENIES SEXUAL ASSAULT ALLEGATION Blog |
An employee at Harrah's Casino has filed a civil lawsuit saying Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger sexual assaulted her.
But the NFL star's lawyer told NBC Sports that the charges by Andrea McNulty are false. "Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone, especially Andrea McNulty," said David Cornwell.
The civil suit, filed last week in Washoe County, Nevada, says the attack occurred in July 2008. McNulty claims that Roethlisberger asked her to come to his hotel room to fix the television. Once she arrived, he forced her to have sex with him. Roethlisberger faces several civil charges, including assault, sexual assault and battery, and intentonal infliction of emtional distress.
No criminal complaint has been filed.
"The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct," Cornwell said.
"If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated."

| ESPN REPORTER THREATENS LAWSUIT OVER NUDE VIDEO Blog |
ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews has gotten some unwanted exposure.
Last week, a grainy video surfaced that shows the sideline reporter walking naked around a hotel room. It appears that Andrews, who Playboy dubbed "America's Sexiest Sportscaster," was filmed without her knowledge through the peephole.
The video became the buzz of the Internet, finding its way onto several popular Web sites before being removed. Searches for the video surged to the top of the Google Hot Trends list. Andrews, 31, joined ESPN in 2004 and made headlines earlier this year when she was struck in the chin by a foul ball while covering a New York Mets game. She was rushed to the hospital, but only suffered a bruised chin.
Andrews laughed off the foul ball incident, but she doesn't find anything funny about the peephole video: She's threatening a lawsuit.
"While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent. She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future," said her lawyer, Marshall B. Grossman, in a statement.
The statement continues: "Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material. We request respect of Erin's privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities.”

Embarking on a one-night stand while married and pregnant is all in a day's work for Mad Men star January Jones.
"She is cracked, which is why I love her," Jones, who covers Interview magazine's August issue, says of her character Betty Draper – the repressed housewife of mercurial ad exec Don Draper (played by Jon Hamm).
"I come from a family of very outspoken women. I can't imagine living in a time when you couldn’t express what you felt," the 31-year-old star says in the interview conducted by Oscar-winning actor Jack Nicholson. "That's why Betty does what she does. She's imploding to the point where she gets so frustrated that she does something wacky."And playing the tortured homebody seems to be paying off: "I mean, with the success of Mad Men, I get more offers. But a lot of them are for the sad housewife."
But before breaking into acting, Jones – who got her start in the world of fashion – had other career plans. "I thought I would be a storm chaser at one point," the South Dakota native, who dealt with "lots of weather," reveals. "Equally as dangerous as acting."
Besides her own show, the former model revealed that America's Next Top Model is her favorite show because "I love Tyra Banks … she's entertaining."
Mad Men, which recently received 16 Emmy nominations, returns for its third season on Aug. 16.

| MARC ANTHONY BUYS STAKE IN MIAMI DOLPHINS Blog |
Marc Anthony has a new project in the works – and it's not musical: The singer has become a partial owner of the Miami Dolphins, Anthony tells PEOPLE exclusively.
"I'm a huge sports fan," says Anthony, 40. "These opportunities don't come around too often. It's quite an honor and a privilege to be able to sit here today saying that I'm a part-owner of an NFL team."
Anthony struck a deal with Stephen Ross, the New York-based real estate entrepreneur who bought a 95-percent stake in the Dolphins franchise in January. The singer did not disclose the financial terms. "It would have probably been cheaper just to buy season tickets," he said, joking. (Ross paid $1 billion for his share of the team, Sports Illustrated reported at the time.)
Money aside, Anthony says he and Ross shared common goals for the Dolphins.
"We spoke for quite a while about his vision for the team and, like I said, it was just intoxicating," he says. "It was just a win-win for everybody involved."
Ross says the feeling is mutual.
"Marc's a pretty bright guy and he has a lot of interesting ideas," Ross tells PEOPLE. "We're trying to do something different and he was thinking outside the box. I think when your minds start going and thinking of all the different possibilities, I thought it would be a great fit and fun to do something."
While the deal's been made, Anthony still has one more thing to finalize: Finding a house in Miami for his family.
Anthony says he and wife Jennifer Lopez are house hunting now. "Jennifer loves Miami," he says. "So she's really, really happy about this because we're going to be spending a lot of time down there."

After the Cruise clan did some high-profile celebrating in Australia last week, the ladies of the family took time out to spend a relaxing day by the pool.
With Tom Cruise checking out of the Melbourne hotel Tuesday, wife Katie Holmes and their 3-year-old daughter Suri remained "very much in residence" at their luxury digs, according to a source.
Dressed in a flattering green paisley one-piece swimsuit, Holmes played with Suri who held onto a blue floatation noodle in the indoor pool. The duo spent time in the spa, then headed to the larger pool where they were surrounded by local Melbourne children vacationing with their families.One of the guests, William Cuthbertson, 9, said he recognized Holmes from 2005's Batman Begins. "Suri was tucked up against Katie's chest and she wouldn't show her face to us," he said. Holmes smiled at the others and wrapped her daughter in a fluffy white towel. Holmes, looking trim, put on an oversized gray shirt from the musical The Jersey Boys, which the family saw during at a Sunday matinee.
Holmes is preparing to start shooting Don't Be Afraid of the Dark in Melbourne this month.
On Friday, the family celebrated Tom's 47th birthday by watching an Australian football match from a private box

| THE CRUISE CLAN MAKES A SPLASH DOWN UNDER Blog |
It's been one g'day after another for Tom Cruise's family.
Taking Australia by storm, Cruise celebrated his 47th birthday Friday night watching an Australian football match from a private box with wife Katie Holmes and actor Guy Pearce, the leading man in her upcoming film, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, which will start shooting in Melbourne soon.
Cruise and Holmes also caught a performance of Jersey Boys in Melbourne on Sunday, meeting the cast afterwards.
Much of the trip Down Under has seen Cruise spending quality daddy-daughter time with Suri, taking her to the Melbourne Zoo on Thursday. "Suri visited a tree kangaroo, a koala, a Tawny Frogmouth, which is a bird, and the Kangaroo Island kangaroos," says a zoo rep. "They both got to touch the animals." Next stop: the toy section of Melbourne's Myer Department store, where Cruise bought Suri a toy kangaroo and a hobbyhorse. At the cosmetics counters, dad nestled a shy Suri in his arms as he carried her to the cosmetics counter.
Says a sales assistant, "I said to him, 'How old is she?,' and he said, 'She's three.' And I said, 'Does she talk now?' and he said, 'All the time,' and laughs and then goes, 'She's just shy.'"
With Cruise's encouragement, Suri picked out three Becca lip glosses – in Angel's Kiss, Fushia Crush and Rosita.
On Wednesday, the whole family took a trip to the Melbourne Aquarium. In the Antarctica exhibit Suri marveled at the King and Gentoo penguins, while at the Rockpool Cruise, Holmes and Suri all held a starfish. Suri was a bit quieter when they went downstairs into the main Oceanarium, which is home to a number of 10-foot sharks and massive stingrays.

| SOUTH CAROLINA GOVERNOR ADMITS TO AFFAIR Blog |
Days after his staff announced he was hiking in the Appalachian Trail, an emotional South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford admitted Wednesday he was actually in Buenos Aires and apologized for having an extramarital affair.
"I've been unfaithful to my wife," the governor, his voice choking at times, said at a news conference in Columbia. "I developed a relationship with what started as a dear, dear friend from Argentina."
Sanford, a 49-year-old conservative Republican thought to be a possible presidential candidate in 2012, said he began a "remarkable friendship" with the woman eight years ago but "over this last year it developed into something much more than that." "First and foremost, I apologize to my wife and my four boys," Sanford said in a statement. He also apologized to his staff for misleading them about his whereabouts. "I want to make absolutely clear that over the past two days at no time did anyone on my staff intentionally relay false information to state officials or the public at large."
Asked by reporters if he was trying to reconcile with his wife, Jenny, the governor – who is resigning as head of the Republican Governors Association – replied, "I am, yeah."
"What we're trying to do is work through something that we've been working through for a number of months now," he said, adding that his wife discovered the affair five months ago.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's twins may have arrived earlier than their mid-summer due date but rest assured, their doting parents are well prepared.
"They've been gearing up for the birth of the girls, getting everything ready," one pal tells PEOPLE. "They are very excited. This is a big thing for them."
The couple, who welcomed daughters Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge Broderick on Tuesday, have been readying the nursery for double the girl-fun. They recently cleaned house at their West Village brownstone, removing boxes filled with dishes, photos and musical equipment to make room for their expanding brood. Meanwhile, friends say Broderick, 47, and Parker, 44, will shower their new daughters with love. "They absolutely adore [son James Wilkie, 6,] so the two kids who are came into the world [Monday] are going to be very happy," said actor Gary Beach, who has known Parker since she was 11 years old and, in his own Tony-winning role (as the madcap director), costarred with Broderick in The Producers.
"Matthew loves to devote time to his son, and two … girls? That's wonderful," says Beach. "It's really going to be exciting for them."
Lucky Kids"Sarah Jessica and Matthew are great parents," says another friend, actress Kristin Johnson. "James Wilkie is the funniest, smartest kid ... so any addition would be lucky, lucky kids."
Sex and the City costumer Patricia Field, reached Tuesday on vacation in Greece, agrees. "Kids born to SJ and Matthew … are already miles ahead of the norm. They have so much opportunity. It's a lucky, fortunate child – children!"
Field also muses about the fun Parker is apt to have with her girls. "I think they'll be very imaginatively dressed, a product of her great imagination," says the costumer. But in keeping with Parker's down-to-earth appeal, "I don't think they'll be wearing Oscar de la Renta for a little while."
Also excited about the new babies are the residents of Martins Ferry, Ohio, where the girls were born with the help of a surrogate. "This is a big item for our town right now," says Martins Ferry mayor Phil Wallace, who is planning to send a gift to the couple. "I'm sure everybody in town is happy for them. This is happy news!"

There's a lot of shouting happening in Kate Gosselin's house. The mother of eight children – twins Mady and Cara, 8, and sextuplets Alexis, Collin, Leah, Hannah, Aaden and Joel, 5 – has barely had time to change out of her morning workout clothes before her brood descends upon her, clinging to her legs and loudly wondering what to do given the rainy weather.
"Let's do a project," yells Kate, 34, above the clamor. The eight children race to the kitchen table and promptly pull out their construction paper and crayons to make Father’s Day cards for their conspicuously absent dad, who'll receive them two days later.
"Will you help me draw a heart?" asks a giggling Collin. "I want lots of hearts." Lately, the family has seen lots of heartbreak, culminating with the news that Kate and Jon, 32, stars of the reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8, have decided to end their marriage.
"On a good day, I feel relief," Kate says, curled up in a chair in her living room. "On a bad day, I feel failure."

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have called it quits, reps for each confirm to PEOPLE.
"They have amicably split but remain good friends who still greatly care for one another," Minnillo's rep tells PEOPLE of the couple, who began dating in 2006.
The split comes after a rash of breakup rumors and reports, which were shot down. Earlier this month Minnillo told PEOPLE that she and Lachey were "very much still on."
Though they have split, a source says Minnillo, 28, and Lachey, 35, are "still friends. It was the right thing for both of them to do."from Huffington Post
